DESIGN
The house is the first of 2 same houses forming part of a battle-axe block subdivision. Located along the eastern and southern boundary, the L-shaped building provide north and west facing aspect to all rooms, each with views and access to their deck and to the private garden. The long leg contains open plan kitchen-dining-living, children bedrooms, bathroom and garage, the short leg the separate parent’s retreat. With their different roof orientation and large eaves, optimising sun control, both legs articulate around the covered external deck. The single pitch roof structure, made out of inverted trusses, creates high ceiling spaces, allowing for natural light access deep into the house and cross ventilation through high level awning panels. All services are accommodated in the ceiling within the truss lower section.
