DESIGN
The house sits on an elevated corner block, adjacent to a public stairway and council reserve. The main living spaces are located on the upper level to take advantage of the water views towards Sydney Harbour. Through a fully operable glass façade, they open and extend onto a large cantilevering balcony hovering over the lower floor to the east and onto a garden area to the north. Following the natural ground profile, the main bedroom sits half a level higher to also take advantage of the water views over the main roof. Both building parts articulate around a central courtyard allowing for natural cross ventilation through the house. A light weight open stair with skylight above connects all 3 levels and brings natural light down the entry hallway in the basement.
